What you actually NEED...

While I love yoga equipment and yoga brands, purchasing specific equipment is not necessary and not for everyone. Check out this blog post to learn more!

With that being said, when you're ready to buy some yoga gear here are my recommendations, and reviews. I have spent years field testing many different types of yoga gear, and brands. I've experienced this gear as both a student and instructor, and I am so happy to share what I love with you!

Manduka PROâ„¢ Yoga Mat 6mm

This is the yoga mat that I keep coming back to even after trying other brands, the pro is 6 mm thick, and I just use the regular length one, but it does come in a longer length if you prefer that. It’s super great for any type of yoga. It's nonslip, has plenty cushion and it also holds up really well. I’ve been using mine for at least 10 years. I will say if you’re doing super hot yoga and you’re actually going to be dripping sweat you will probably want to pair it with some kind of microfiber, nonslip yoga towel.

Yogitoes® Hot Yoga Mat Towel

Back when I used to do hot yoga all the time, and I was literally dripping sweat in class. This is the towel that I would use you put it completely over your mat and then it gets stickier and grip here as you sweat instead of slipping. it comes in so many different designs and they’re updating designs all the time so you get to really express yourself with this towel.

Cork Yoga Block - 2 Pack

These are the yoga blocks. I would recommend if you’re going to be putting your full amount of weight on them. They’re super sturdy and stiff, and are great if you’re wanting to raise up your hands for any type of arm balance, or inversions. I would start with the regular size ones, and then if eventually you’re looking to add more blocks, they do come in a shorter level if you’re using them too, maybe prop up your knees or your hips for some of the stretchy poses. if you are looking for a squishy or soft block, these are not for you, however, Manduka does have a foam colored block that is very similar, but has a soft layer around it.

Zafu Meditation Cushion

After 6 months of exploring my meditation practice, I finally decided to buy a meditation cushion. This is the one I actually landed on. It is filled with organic buckwheat hulls, and has a zipper that allows you to clean the cover, and choose how much fill you cushion has based on your own personal preference. It also comes in really cool designs and colors, and has a easy carrying handle if your always on the go!

Standard Yoga Bolster

If your looking to buy a bolster this is a great one to start with because you can pretty much use it for the same things that you would use a round bolster for plus more. This also has a carrying handle, and a removable cover. it also has firm supportive padding covered in softer padding for comfort.

Zabuton Meditation Pillow

This pillow I bought to go with my meditation cushion to provide extra padding for my ankles when they are folded in front of me. It folds in half and has a shoulder carrying strap that makes it super easy to transport. This is also thicker and firmer than other similar cushions I have used before.

Folding Yoga Chair

I Always say you can use pretty much any armless sturdy chair you have in your home, but if your looking for a dedicated yoga chair and/or one that folds away for storage this is a great one. I started using it in the second half of my chair yoga series, and I really love the single bar on the back of the chair. This single bar and no back allows me to your the seat level of the chair for support or the back level without having to adjust which way it faces!

Linen round sit set

This combo set includes a round meditation cushion and a zabuton cushion, both are made of organic material and have removable covers for easy cleaning. I prefer using both of these cushions for meditation because the meditation cushion raises my hips and the zabuton cushion provides a comfortable place for my ankles when im seated cross legged. Each one of these cushions are also available individually. The Zabuton can be a great addition to a restorative practice to provide support in many poses. The meditation cushion by itself is great to use at the beginning or end or Roaming Mat Yoga practices when were in our comfortable seat (siddasana).

Cotton halfmoon sit set

This set is very similar to the round sit set except the meditation cushion is shaped like a crescent moon. Which one you choose is really just a matter of preference. If you fold you feet and ankles really close to your body when you sit cross-legged this one might be more comfortable for you because of the crescent shape. Lake the round set each of these cushions are great together or on their own!
